The story plays out scene-for-scene identically to the Eddie Murphy version, just macho&#039;d up and lacking any humor. It&#039;s not bad, though. It&#039;s long been rumored that much of &lt;i&gt;Cobra&lt;/i&gt; was recycled from that &lt;i&gt;Beverly Hills Cop&lt;/i&gt; script, but the only bit transferred is the character having the last name Cobretti, often shortened to &quot;Cobra&quot;. Sadly, it also had the same problem of a very confused, poor script that immediately killed the franchise stone dead and raised more questions than it answered.  Though many elements were right (the casting of Brandon Routh), many, many were just plain wrong (Kate Bosworth, Kryptonian real estate, the kid, the washed out look of the film, the puny score) and it is just as worth avoiding as the previous two Reeve films.
