Thanks to Flickeringmyth and BleedingCool for this (and also @paulbennison ). We’re not sure if this is a spoof, or if some rabid Ghostbusters fans have really put together a Room 237 (The Shining)style documentary on the hidden meanings behind the spook-tacular comedy. Whatever, it’s a fun idea for anyone as obsessed with this great comedy as we are here at Cinetropolis. The press release reads:
Just wanted to let you know the international trailer for a 100% Australian ‘Room 237′-style documentary about the most successful horror comedy ever made, ‘Ghostbusters,’ is now up on Vimeo.
In the 2 minute 15 second trailer, interviewees decode, interpret and perceive meaning from the story, plot, character, cinematography and hidden symbols in the 1984 Ivan Reitman film.
Why Australia? Well, the continent is home to the largest Ghostbusters community (or ‘friends of Gozer’) in the Southern Hemisphere True. Every year, on the third reconciliation of the last of the McKetrick supplicants (August 9), they gather to toast marshmallows, eat Twinkles (Twinkie knock-offs) and smoke cigarettes. Many Shuvs and Zuuls know what it is to be roasted in the depths of the Slor that day, I can tell you!
Anywho, for those of us who have been discursively talking Ghostbusters for far too long, it’s something of a solace to find a forum filled with the like-minded.
